This exquisite fine china sugar bowl is from the Palmer’s Silk collection, inspired by an original design in the Victoria and Albert Museum. The dusty indigo motifs feature tracings of metallic gold and draw upon a silk design by Anna Maria Garthwaite (1690–1763), one of the leading pattern drawers in the English silk industry in the 1700s. The V&A is the world’s leading museum of art and design with collections unrivalled in their scope and diversity. It was established to make works of art available to all and to inspire British designers and manufacturers. Today, the V&A’s collections, which span over 5,000 years of creativity in virtually every medium and from many parts of the world, continue to intrigue, inspire and inform. Measurements: 7cm x 9.3cm.
